2 t salt
2 envelopes rapid rise or instant yeast
2 C water, heated to 110 degrees
12 T butter, softened

Whisk in water, butter and eggs until very smooth, about 2 minutes. Add remainint flour and mix with a rubber spatula until just combined. Cover bowl with greased plastic wrap and place in warm oven until batter is doubled in size, about 30 minutes. Remove batter from oven and heat to 375 degrees. Punch down dough and scoop batter evenly into muffin tins. Cover with greased plastic wrap and let rise at room temperature until batter nearly reaches the rims of the muffin cups, about 15 minutes. Remove plastic wrap and bake until rolls are golden, 14 to 18 minutes. Serve.
Makes 2 dozen.
(Make Ahead: After being covered with greased plastic wrap, the batter can be refrigerated in the muffin tins for up to 24 hours. When ready to bake, let the batter sit at room temperature for 30 min before proceeding with the recipe.)

Easy Breadsticks

Mix together-
1 1/2 c. warm water
1 T. yeast
1 T. honey or some sweetener
1 t. salt
Let stand for 5 mins.
Then slowly add 4- 41/2 c. white flour. Knead until the dough is soft and elastic but not sticky to the touch, but not too dry.
Then shape into sticks, place on greased cookie sheet. Brush on butter and sprinkle on seasonings- parmesan cheese, season salt, sweet basil, dill weed, or etc., use your imagination.
Cook at 400 degrees for 10- 15 mins, or until lightly brown.
This is great for a kids activity, they can make any shape they want and eat it after it bakes.

Salty Breadsticks

  • 1/2 c butter
  • 2 1/2 c flour
  • 4 t sugar
  • 4 t baking powder
  • 2 t salt
  • 1 1/3 c milk
Heat oven to 450 degrees.  Melt butter in 9 x 13 pan in oven.  Remove as soon as butter melts.  In bowl stir together four, sugar, baking powder, and salt.  Add milk and mix until dough clings together.  Turn on floured board and knead lightly 10 times.  Roll out 1/2 inch thick.  Cut with floured knife, turn stips once in butter and bake in rows in pan.  Sprinkle with salt if desired.  Bake 15-20 minutes.
I substitute garlic salt for the salt.
